Thermowood is not porous - pores have have closed via heat exposure which changes the molecular structure of wood - the result absorbs little or no water and thus it is practically insensitive to moisture. 

Some types of fruit should not be peeled but rather eaten with the skin - thus a fruit and vegetable brush is valuable in the kitchen.
