This family-owned pan-forge business which has been in the Riess family for nine generations was founded in 1550 in Ybbsitz, Austria. Today it is known for its top quality enamel-ware, made in their carbon neutral facility using locally-generated hydro power along the Ybbs river.
Riess uses a 40-step handmade process to make each enameled pot. Iron pots are pressed and stamped, and dipped in porcelain enamel, dried and fired at 850°C to be glass-fused. The result is long lasting, heat resistant up to 450°C, non-reactive, anti-bacterial, cut and scratch resistant. Since Riess’s porcelain enamel is all natural, including the metal oxides used in the dyes, the entire item is metal-recyclable.
Item Description: A large kitchen colander with flower-shaped holes. Can be used to strain or wash any fruits, salads or vegetables. The two side-handles and the three feet on the bottom make it easy to securely place the colander on the kitchen table or in the sink. Has a rolled rim.
Enamel prevents bacteria growth and is resistant to fruit acid, so it is ideally suited to the kitchen. Enamel is made from iron fused with glass at high temperatures. The non-porous, smooth, cut and scratch-resistant glass surface guarantees perfect hygiene. Enamel dishes are recommended for those allergic to nickel. Scratch resistant. Prevents bacteria growth and is aroma neutral.
